Camp Rules and Advice

Legal liability: Neither Star Equestrian nor any person acting on its behalf will be held responsible for any accident, damage, injury, or loss at camps or at any other meetings, to participants or their ponies.

Health, Safety and Welfare: Star equestrian have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organisers and officials.

While we would like there to be as few rules as possible, the rules are there to make this wonderful camp as successful, safe and happy as possible. Please read and take note.

Riding is a great sport, enjoyed by the pony as much as the rider. However, it can be dangerous and thus rules and supervision are required to make it as safe as possible.

These rules will be supervised by the camp safety officer, whose decision will be final on any infringement. Such infringement could result in the offender being required to leave the camp.

Our camps provide fun for all. They encompass a wide range of riding and stable management experiences, and the following camp rules will help protect the safety of riders, ponies, property and spectators.

  • Participants must have filled in any and all relevant paperwork BEFORE the commencement of any camp/lesson/activity.
  • Participants must provide a pony which is healthy, vaccinated and fit for the purpose of the camp/lesson/activity.
  • An assessment of riding ability and pony suitability will be made at the beginning of each camp – Organisers reserve the right to remove a participant if the combination of them and their pony is deemed unsuitable.
  • If, for any reason, anyone needs to leave camp, or take a participant out of camp, they must let the organiser know, in case of emergency.
  • Every person arriving at camp must register with the organiser office on arrival.
  • It should be noted that JEWELLERY, including earrings and stoppers, will not be allowed when riding.
  • All mounted training sessions will be preceded by a “safety inspection” to ensure that the pony’s tack and the rider’s gear – head to toe – conform in detail to that laid down in the safety rules. In particular, hats will be checked and must conform to the latest standards required, otherwise you will not be allowed to ride and there will be no refund.
  • At the beginning of each Camp, ALL hats to be worn will be checked. If they are found not to be of the requisite standard, it will be the responsibility of the nominated adult to provide a properly fitted hat that falls within the safety regulations.
  • The camp area map is shown inside the stable office. Beyond the designated perimeter is out of bounds.
  • It should be noted that anyone whose conduct is completely unacceptable may have to bear responsibility for ending their stay at camp.
  • Good behaviour and common courtesy to your fellow participants are expected at all times.
  • Each individual should leave the toilets clean and tidy.
  • All rubbish must be removed and placed in bins provided.
  • Smoking is absolutely forbidden anywhere on any Star Equestrian venue.
