Health and Safety

Star Equestrian has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present.  For these measures to be effective, everyone must also take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring, and must obey the instructions of our coaches.

When booking a camp, coaching session or activity day with us we ask that you complete the relevant paper work and fully read and understand the following:

  1. I acknowledge that cycling and riding are risk sports and hold a potential danger. I understand that horses may react unpredictably on occasions.
  2. I confirm that I have read and accept the SAFETY rules.
  3. I confirm that I have explained the SAFETY rules to my child.
  4. I accept full responsibility for my child and confirm that the above pre-assessed abilities are correct. I accept my child rides at his/her own risk.

Safety Rules

I agree as a participant to the following:

  1. Participants must have filled in any and all relevant paperwork BEFORE the commencement of any camp/lesson/activity.
  2. Participants must provide a pony which is healthy, vaccinated and fit for the purpose of the camp/lesson/activity.
  3. An assessment of riding ability and pony suitability will be made at the beginning of each camp – Organisers reserve the right to remove a participant if the combination of them and their pony is deemed unsuitable.
  4. If, for any reason, anyone needs to leave camp, or take a participant out of camp, they must let the organiser know, in case of emergency.
  5. Every person arriving at camp must register with the office on arrival.
  6. It should be noted that JEWELLERY, including earrings and stoppers, will not be allowed when riding.
  7. All mounted training sessions will be preceded by a “safety inspection” to ensure that the pony’s tack and the rider’s gear – head to toe – conform in detail to that laid down in the safety rules. In particular, hats will be checked and must conform to the latest standards required, otherwise you will not be allowed to ride and there will be no refund.
  8. At the beginning of each Camp, ALL hats to be worn will be checked. If they are found not to be of the requisite standard, it will be the responsibility of the nominated adult to provide a properly fitted hat that falls within the safety regulations.
  9. The camp area map is shown inside the stable office. Beyond the designated perimeter is out of bounds.
  10. It should be noted that anyone whose conduct is completely unacceptable may have to bear responsibility for ending their stay at camp.
  11. Good behaviour and common courtesy to your fellow participants are expected at all times.
  12. Each individual should leave the toilets clean and tidy.
  13. All rubbish must be removed and placed in bins provided.
  14. Smoking is absolutely forbidden anywhere on Douglasfield Farm.
